Replacing Traditional Wooden Sash & Casement Windows

At Barnsbury Joinery we manufacture and install traditional wooden sash and casement windows in our factories based in Crouch End, North London and Reading, Berkshire. Our timber sash windows are manufactured to replicated your original windows, but with slight modifications made to improve the original design. Typically this would be with better ironmongery and locking systems, draught proofing system inserted into new staff and parting bead as standard and also the options to upgrade to double glazing windows or slimline double glazing windows. With our double glazed sash and casement windows we provide a traditional putty finish externally. This is normally required if your property is located in a conservation area so your sash and casement windows look exactly the same as the original design.
Usually all new sash and casement windows are glazed with 24mm double-glazed low-emissivity glass to comply with the thermal requirements demanded by current building regulations and local councils. Occasionally the local planning authority will insist that new sash or casement windows are single glazed to maintain the authenticity of the façade of a listed building – this will over-ride the demands of the building regulations. At Barnsbury Joinery we manufacture both single glazed and double glazed windows in any size or style. Our sash windows are manufactured using the traditional haunched mortise and tenon joints, which gives your sash windows far more strength than those favoured by the mass produced markets in the UK and also windows imported from Europe. This attention to detail makes a huge difference to the quality of the end product, and ensures your sash windows will last far longer.
