Trade partners: heritage joinery for the specification chain
Trade partners heritage joinery for architects, contractors, builders, developers and estates. Supply‑only made‑to‑measure UK‑wide, full fitted service in London.
Barnsbury Joinery works alongside architects, main contractors, builders, developers and estates to deliver conservation‑grade timber joinery that meets the drawing, the specification and the deadline. As the flagship London studio of The Barnsbury Group, founded in 1987, we bring more than three decades of making to trade projects, from single listed dwellings to whole terraces and portfolio estates. Everything is made by hand at our studio at Low Profile House, 94 Vale Road, London N4 1PZ.
We offer two ways to work with us. Across London and the South East we provide a full service, from survey and restoration through repair and bespoke fitted joinery installed on site by our own teams. Across the rest of the UK we supply made‑to‑measure joinery to order, finished and ready for your fitters to install. Whichever route suits your project, you deal with a single accountable studio that understands period fabric and the realities of a live site.
Who we work with

Our trade partners span the full specification chain. We work with conservation architects and practices who need joinery detailed to satisfy planning and listed building consent, and who want a maker who reads drawings properly and flags issues before they reach site. We work with main contractors and builders who need reliable timber packages that arrive right first time and keep a programme moving. And we work with developers, managing agents and private estates responsible for period stock, where consistency across many windows, doors and shop fronts matters as much as the quality of any single unit.
In every case the relationship is the same: clear communication, honest advice on what a building actually needs, and joinery that holds up long after handover. We are used to sitting inside a wider project team, coordinating with other trades, and working to the standards that heritage and high‑end residential work demand.
Supply‑only made‑to‑measure joinery, UK‑wide

For projects outside our full‑service area, we supply made‑to‑measure joinery across the rest of the UK. You send us drawings, schedules or survey information, and we make to order: box sash and casement windows, doors, panelling, staircases, shutters and shop front joinery, produced to the exact sizes and profiles your project requires.
Supply‑only work is finished to the same standard as everything we install ourselves. Timber is selected for the job, joints are cut to last, and finishes are applied in the studio so units arrive ready to fit. This route gives contractors and builders anywhere in the country access to London studio craftsmanship without needing us on site, while your own fitting teams handle installation to our guidance.
Full fitted service in London and the South East

Across London and the South East we manage the whole process. That begins with a measured survey, moves through restoration, repair or new making as the building requires, and ends with our own joiners fitting and finishing on site. Because the same studio surveys, makes and installs, detailing carries through cleanly and nothing is lost between hands.
For contractors this means one point of accountability for a timber joinery package: a partner who can survey a difficult period property, advise on what is repairable and what needs replacing, and deliver installation that meets both conservation requirements and the practical demands of a live construction programme.
Specification support and technical detail

We support architects and specifiers from the earliest stages of a project. We can help develop sections and details, match historic profiles from surviving examples, advise on glazing options including slimline double glazing where consent allows, and produce drawings that give the design team confidence before anything is cut.
If you are writing a specification, we are happy to provide technical input on timber species, joinery sections, ironmongery, draught proofing, finishes and performance so that what reaches tender is buildable and accurate. Getting the detail right on paper is the surest way to avoid variations and delays once a project is on site.
Conservation‑grade quality

Heritage work is unforgiving, and our standards reflect that. We replicate original profiles, match existing joinery across a run, and produce conservation‑grade work that respects historic fabric while delivering modern comfort and performance. Much of our output is made for listed and period buildings, so the sensitivities of working within consent conditions are second nature to us.
Our joiners are time‑served craftspeople who have made together for years, and that depth shows in the parts most people never consciously notice: a glazing bar that reads true, a moulding that echoes the cornice above it, a sash that runs sweet and quiet. For a trade partner, that consistency is what protects your own reputation with the end client.
Lead times and delivery

Lead times depend on the scope of the joinery, the level of restoration or bespoke making involved, and current studio capacity. Once we understand your programme we will give you a realistic making and delivery schedule and keep you updated as work progresses, so you can plan your own sequence around firm dates rather than optimistic ones.
Commercial terms for trade partners, including pricing structure, deposit and payment stages, delivery arrangements and any account terms, are agreed on a project basis. We will set these out clearly in writing as part of your enquiry so there are no surprises on either side.
How to open a trade enquiry

To start, send us the essentials of your project: the type and quantity of joinery, the location, whether the building is listed or in a conservation area, your target programme, and any drawings, schedules or photographs you already have. The more you can share at the outset, the faster we can respond with useful advice and an accurate way forward.
If your project is in London or the South East we will arrange a survey; if it is elsewhere in the UK we will work from your information toward a supply‑only package. Either way, request a survey or a trade enquiry through our contact page and we will come back to you promptly to discuss how best to work together.
